IEEE 802.3u (Fast Ethernet) LAN Standards
The IEEE 802.3u LAN Standards, also known as FAST ETHERNET, are defined as follow:
100BaseT4
>> Medium: Twisted Pair Cat.3 (UTP four pairs);
>> Maximum length per segment: 100 m;
>> Topology: Star;
>> Working Mode: half-duplex;
100BaseT
>> Medium: Twisted Pair Cat.5 (UTP two pairs);
>> Maximum length per segment: 100 m;
>> Topology: Star;
>> Working Mode: full-duplex;
100BaseF
>> Medium: Optical Fiber 2MM (2 strands);
>> Maximum length per segment: 2 km;
>> Topology: Star;
>> Working Mode: full-duplex;
802.3z Standards have:
Data Rate: 100 Mbps;
Coding:
>> 8BGT coding;
