The circuit shown on the
Picture 1 is Wien bridge oscillator. The resistor Rb is actually the resistance of the bulb which is self-heating up to the point when Rb = Rf/2. Another condition for this circuit to start the oscillations is R1 = R2 = R and C1 = C2 = C. The frequency of the oscillations and the conditions are defined with the formulas shown on
Picture 2.
